Indiana has many state parks that have walking trails, rivers to go canoeing in, sites to camp in, and the history of the state that you can touch. Some of the more fun and adventures parks would be Indiana Dunes, Fort Harrison State Park, Turkey Run, and Mounds State Park.
Indiana Dunes has beautiful camping grounds that you can fish, swim, and enjoy the scenery. It also has museums, such as the Alton Goin Museum, Indiana Aviation Museum, and the Porter County Museum. All the activities in this little spot in the state range from adults to kids. At Fort Harrison State Park there is camping and history all in one place. This site has walking and jogging trails, fishing and a World War II prisoner of war camp. At Turkey Run in Marshall Indiana, you will find some of the best hiking trails in Indiana totaling 14 miles long, you will see beautiful views of the forest and the babbling creaks running though it. Marshall is also home to many of Indiana’s historic covered bridges. Mounds State Park is located in Anderson Indiana. This particular park got its name because of the Indians that used to live there. There are 10 mounds that were thought to be used for ceremonial purposes. There are hiking trails all over the park, along with a nature center that is used for bird watching and to display animals.
